Local Anesthesia

For patients who experience some anxiety about their dental treatment, we might recommend nitrous oxide or oral sedation to help put them at ease and make their visit much more comfortable. We can also administer local anesthesia to numb the treatment area so that patients do not feel any discomfort during the procedure. Most of the time, however, there is no need for local anesthetic because the treatment is very gentle and painless.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

This sedation method is commonly known as laughing gas or happy gas due to its euphoric effects. The gas is inhaled through a mask that is placed over your nose and mouth. As you inhale, the gas relaxes your muscles and reduces your anxiety. You will stay awake during the sedation and will not feel any pain during your treatment. When the procedure is over, the mask is removed, and the sedative wears off quickly. You will be able to drive yourself home after your appointment. 

Oral Sedation

In today’s day and age, many patients prefer to be totally relaxed and comfortable while getting dental treatments. Because of this, we offer oral sedation to his patients to help them stay calm and relaxed during their treatments. With this sedation option, you will not have to feel any discomfort or pain during your dental procedures. This will ensure that you are completely relaxed throughout your treatment so that you will not have to worry about feeling pain or discomfort and will be able to wake up to a beautiful new smile!

IV Sedation

Most people have anxiety about going to the dentist, and that nervousness affects their oral health in a number of ways. At Lagos Periodontics & Dental Implants, we offer something called “IV sedation” to help patients relax during their dental treatments.

The sedative medications are administered directly into your bloodstream, which means you’ll feel a very light level of relaxation within minutes of receiving the medication. However, you’ll still be conscious enough to answer questions and follow directions from your dentist.
